Is Base Camp right for me?

Base Camp is epic, but it isn’t for everyone.
Get A’s to the most frequently asked Q’s, to help you decide if this course is right for you.

WHO IT’S FOR

  • It doesn’t matter if you only have the bare bones of an idea, in fact this is actually ideal. Base Camp will take what you have and help build it out further, including figuring out how to price your products and services, building a profit plan (so you'll actually make cash), and pulling it all into a creative concept that your future customers will love.

  • Brilliant, well done 👏🏼. If you have a solid understanding across both creative and commercial areas of business, you’re already miles ahead. It’s likely there are certain areas of business you’re stronger in vs. others, and Base Camp can help you fill in the gaps. We also have an epic community (including Anna & Cait) who will continue to help you along, challenge your thinking, and answer those questions that have been swirling around in your mind.

  • Base Camp is designed specifically for almost-founders who need help launching their idea into the world, however the course content is structured to help students lay the foundations of a SOLID, strong business that is set up from the get go to grow.

If you already have a business but are flying by the seat of your pants, or feel like you don’t have strong foundations or a solid plan, Base Camp can definitely help.

Still unsure if it’s right for you? Check out this podcast episode where we chat with pilot program student Beth, founder of Saint Jack.

COURSE CONTENT

  • Base Camp teaches the fundamentals across each key area of business: how to define your purpose and vision, how to conduct effective customer research and apply insights, how to design and price a product and service offer, how to build a profit plan, how to develop a brand identity, tone of voice, and brand brief, how to develop a launch marketing plan, how to develop and roll out a content plan, and how to effectively sell.

Georgia, founder of Sunny Side Up Wellbeing: 'Step by step we covered off our purpose, vision, understanding our customer, marketing, brand, sales and financials (just to name a few). Topics I would have had no idea how to tackle without the guidance of this course.’

  • We’ve combed through hundreds of hours of audio from our podcast to extract the best lessons, insights and examples from some of the greatest founders in the world. We’ve identified patterns in terms of what’s worked (and what hasn’t) across their businesses, and combined this with our own experience building lady-brains and helping others do the same. The content in Base Camp is rich and goes deep.

We also know that many of the traditional ‘business courses’ taught at universities or other educational institutions just don't teach you the real-life sh*t you need to know. We’ve included all the practical tools and templates you’ll need to help you get your idea off the ground.

Don’t take our word for it though! Here’s what our pilot program students had to say:

Madeleine, founder of Women's Work: ‘It helped me to build my business from a solid base and has transformed my perspectives on what my business can offer and how far I can take things.’

Beth, founder of Saint Jack: ‘Not only did Anna and Cait help me with invaluable advice, but working alongside a community of like-minded women made the whole experience far less lonely and much more exciting. I could not recommend this course more highly to any woman who is starting a business.’

  • Before you invest in any course, it's important you do your research. Ask yourself these questions:

    • What does the course curriculum cover? Does this align with what I want to learn?

•. Am I inspired by the instructors? Do they have credible business experience and insights to share?

•. What do the students’ testimonials say?

•. Do you want to connect with the types of students who you think will also do the course?

Only you can make the call about whether this course is right for you. But just between us, we know that you’ll love it 😉

  • Absolutely. We definitely understand the value of big picture thinking and conceptual ideation, but we KNOW that it's the practical tools and templates that help turn ideas into action.

We’ve included tried and tested practical templates, such as:

•. Our Typeform customer research survey template & question guide

•. An EXCEL pricing calculator for both product & service pricing

•. An EXCEL profit plan template, which allows you to forecast sales, costs and profit

•. A how-to video showing how to search for and apply for THE RIGHT trademark in Aus

•. The lady-brains designer brief we used to develop Base Camp’s brand identity

    • A multi-tab Marketing Plan template, which includes your marketing budget, channel plan, and bonus influencer outreach and campaign tracking report

    •. An influencer briefing template

•. A PR fact sheet template

    • A multi-tab Content Plan template, which includes your content strategy and weekly plan

•. A how-to video showing you exactly how we plan for and schedule our social media content using PLANN

•. Our lady-brains pitch deck example, so you can see exactly how we pitch to brands, partners and clients

THE LOGISTICS

  • Base Camp includes ten modules, and those who went through our pilot program tackled roughly one module per week.

How you approach the content is up to you. Smash through it in a matter of weeks, or slowly work through it over months. You’ll get access forever, so it’s something you can come back to over time.

  • Base Camp is built on its own digital course platform, and once you've signed up, you’ll get immediate access to the portal.

  • While we recommend tackling the modules one by one in order, you’ll get access to everything upfront. The course is entirely self-directed and self-paced, meaning that you can work your way through it as you please.

CASH

  • Base Camp costs one payment of $997+gst, or 3 monthly payments of $447+gst. All payments are made in Australian dollars.

We've spent a lot of time figuring out how to quantify the value the course will bring to you. Base Camp is meaty, and the students in our pilot program spent ~4 hours a week over 10 weeks to complete the course, which at $997 comes out to about $25/hr.

You can also think about it in terms of how many products or services you’ll need to sell in order to recoup the cost. E.g., at $100, you'd only need to sell 10 units to cover Base Camp.

But the best way to think about the value of Base Camp is the time you’ll save throughout the process, learning what works instead of figuring it out for yourself. This is PRICELESS.

  • Yes! We want this course to be as accessible as possible, so we offer 3x monthly payments of $447 AUD.

  • We reserve three places per month for women of colour, or those from an underserved or underinvested community. If you’re interested, apply for the scholarship position here.

  • We have no doubt you’re going to find Base Camp extremely helpful to get your idea off the ground. But if it doesn’t give you the theoretical and practical steps you need to turn your idea into a reality (and you’ve completed our validation mini course), shoot us an email within 14 days having completed all the work, and we’ll send your cash back to you.

  • If you’re in Australia, and Base Camp relates to your current employment activities (or your business, if you’re a founder), then Base Camp is considered an educational expense and can be deducted when you submit your tax return. To double check your eligibility, we suggest checking in with your accountant at tax time!
